The Original One Bite Frozen Pizza Review

I usually keep a few frozen pizzas in the freezer to make an easy, leisurely dinner option for a weeknight. I’ve had a lot of fun with a variety of pizzas available in my neighborhood Walmart and was thrilled to find one that was the Barstool Sports One Bite Frozen Pizza. I am a huge fan of his pizza-related reviews by Dave Portnoy’s on YouTube I was fascinated when he announced the launch and then a review of his own frozen pizza a few months ago. If you’ve read his reviews of One Bite pizza, you are aware that he gave this pizza as a 10. (I’ve added his opinion below). If you’ve heard anything about Dave you’ll know that the man doesn’t simply spout an ideal score such as that. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

A frozen pizza that was that was rated this highly certainly intrigued me, though I have to admit that I was slightly uncertain. (He did give Totino’s Pizza Bites with a score of 10 also.) I started scouring the aisles of frozen foods at my local Walmart every time I was there. Three months later, following Dave’s announcement, I saw The One Bite frozen pizza nestled in between pizzas from Digiorno as well as Freshetta pizzas inside the case of freezers. I was thrilled!

One Bite pizza is available in four flavors that include supreme, pepperoni three meats along with five different cheeses. The four flavors state that they’re stone-baked. The price is $6.48 (or less) per pie purchased at Walmart or on the internet at Walmart.com, the price is similar to other frozen pizzas that are similar to this one. The packaging is clever and features the standard colors of yellows, reds and oranges, which marketing experts claim will psychologically stimulate the taste buds and increase your appetite.

Being a fan of pizza I decided to try for the pizza with five different cheeses as my own take on this latest offer by Barstool Sports. I wanted to sample the pizza without toppings to be able to discern the different ingredients without getting overwhelmed by the flavor of hot pepperoni or meats or vegetables.

My Opinion Overall

After a quick inspection I was able to see that the pizza’s bottom already had a beautiful brown crust, which was visually appealing right from the packaging. Cheese and the sauce appeared fresh and seemed to be top quality.

My first impression of the pizza after it was taken out from the oven was that it smelled and looked quite nice. The areas of pizza had been brown and crisp. The cooking time seemed to be appropriate since the pizza was cooked to perfection with a gorgeous crispy bottom that was charred.

My first taste was not a great experience. According to me, the pizza was bland and tasteless. The taste was king of blandness, it was not getting the typical pizza spices and herbs that you would normally think of. The addition of garlic, basil and oregano could help. The crust on the edges was definitely crisp texture, which was not well adapted to the other pizza. The cheese tasted of good mozzarella, but I couldn’t discern the other four types of cheese. Most of the pizza was a chewy texture , which wasn’t too bad. Apart from being boring, the crust featured an unpleasant smell and flavor of charcoal. The char is likely to come from the bakery in which this pizza is baked over a stone.

Overall I would say that it was a good choice. Barstool Sports One Bite Frozen Pizza Five Cheese Stone Baked Crust frozen pizza was not awful. This pizza definitely is one of the top contenders in the market for frozen pizza in the sense that frozen pizza is concerned. With great packaging and marketing, Barstool has produced a somewhat superior frozen pizza that can satisfy your pizza cravings in just 13 minutes.
