When can I expect my January Social Security payment?
February checks will come with one of the initial COLA increase in 2023. Below is your calendar for February (PDF) to help you decide when you’ll get you Social Security check and/or SSI money:
Feb. 1 January 1 SSI payments.
Feb. 3. Social Security payments for those who are receiving Social Security and SSI SSI as well as Social Security or have received Social Security since before May 1997.
February. 8: Social Security benefits are available to people whose birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month.
February. 15: Social Security benefits for people whose birthday falls between November 11th and the 20th day of any given month.
February. 22: Social Security benefits are available to those whose birthday falls between the 21st – 31st of any month.
How do Social Security payment dates determined?
The Social Security Administration typically sends out checks on the second, third , and fourth Wednesdays of every month. When you get your check will depend on your birth date.
When your birthday is between 1st and the 10th of the month, your check will be mailed out on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
When your birthday is between November 11th through the 20th day of that month the payment will be made at the end of Wednesday of each month.
When your birthday is between 21st and the 31st of the month, the payment will be sent during the third Wednesday of each month.
The payments for SSI recipients usually are made on the 1st of every month.

What happens if I have two benefits? Social Security and SSI?
If you had Social Security benefits before May 1997, or are a recipient of each of Social Security and SSI, the payment schedule differs. Instead of receiving your payment on the third Wednesday of each month, you’ll receive you Social Security payment on the third day of every month, and the payment for your SSI at the beginning of every month.
But, the dates for payment alter if the first or the third day in the month is a weekend or an official holiday. In the last month, for instance the month of Jan. 1 was the Sunday of this year which meant that SSI customers got their January payment the day before on December. 30 and received their Social Security payment was due on Tuesday, January. 3.
The February payment schedule is based on the normal schedule described above Therefore, you can count on to receive your SSI check to be made on February. 1. Social Security check to be delivered by February. 3.
What happens if I don’t get my check by the scheduled date?
If your payment doesn’t reach you on the day listed above based upon your birth date or any other circumstances or other circumstances, the Social Security Administration says to be patient for three days before sending out.
If you haven’t received the letter, you can talk to a representative via 800-772-1213. (The SSA notes that wait times are less on Wednesdays and Fridays, and also between the hours of 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on the weekday afternoons.)
